It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to hold a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
